SPECIALIZED

Specialized have been riders from the very start, and that passion has shaped their choices since 1974. Back when top-notch tires were scarce, they dedicated themselves to crafting the finest. When adventurers yearned to take cruisers off-road, Specialized pioneered the first-ever mass-produced mountain bike.

As road enthusiasts sought more speed, Specialized invested in cutting-edge carbon technology and established their very own wind tunnel. Additionally, Specialized commitment to fostering better health through cycling led us to support Outride, assisting young minds in finding focus and well-being in the classroom.

With the swift emergence of mountain bikes, another pressing concern arose: trail access. In 1987, bicycles were being banned from public lands. During that pivotal year, Specialized actively participated in a collaborative discussion involving various advocacy organizations. Within half a year, this collaboration led to the birth of the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA).

In no time, Specialized wholeheartedly embraced the cause of preserving trail access. They not only sponsored the inaugural industry-wide meeting on this issue but also had some of our team members assume positions on IMBA’s board. Without the dedicated efforts of trail advocates, the existence of trails to safeguard would remain in jeopardy. This truth remains abundantly clear.
